Hurricane, Adam Gardner, scoring in last Saturday's home opener

After an opening weekend that seen the men's hockey 'Canes pick up a win over the Montague Total Assets Fitness Maniacs and a close loss to the Arsenault's Fish Mart Red Wings, the Hurricanes have set their sights on a pair of new opponents this weekend.

On Saturday night at the Simmons Sport Centre the Hurricanes (1-1-0) will play host to the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons (1-2-0), puck drop is at 8:15pm. The Hurricanes Jonathan Boutin is expected to make his season debut in goal. In six games played last season between these two teams, the season series was tied 3-3.

On Sunday evening the Hurricanes will take on the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers (1-0-0) for the first time this season when they visit the Kensington Community Gardens for a 7:00pm puck drop. The Vipers won their home opener last weekend against the Falcons and will be looking to keep the home winning streak alive.  Recently acquired defenseman Morgan Walker is expected to make his home debut, while Dylan McQuaid is expected to start in net.  The Hurricanes were 0-5-1 versus the Vipers last season.

'Canes second year player Cody White is looking forward to this weekend’s challenge. "We're facing two strong teams this weekend in Sherwood and Kensington; we're going to have to carry over our momentum from a good opening weekend to come away with four points".

Hurricanes third year head coach Ryan Maxwell is looking ahead to what new acquisitions can do this season. "Sherwood and Kensington are two good organizations. The Vipers have proved to be the class of the league over the last several years. We are looking forward to the challenge this weekend with the addition of newly acquired players. We will continue to mesh as a team and create a winning attitude no matter who we are playing."

Other weekend games include, the Vipers meeting the Maniacs on Friday night in Montague at 7:30 and the Maniacs visiting the Red Wings at 7:00 on Saturday night in Evangeline.
