The best-of-five IJHL Quarter-final series gets underway on Saturday night in Montague when the Total Assets Fitness Maniacs host the Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons at 7:30 to kick off the post-season.

Quarter-Finals:
After a rough start, the Falcons have come around tremendously over the past two months.  The coaching staff attributes the turnaround to the leadership of its captains and overage players down the stretch.  The leadership group of Brandon Birt, Matt McQuaid, Harrison Nicholson, Harrison Wood and Brandon Gallant has been crucial. Their defensive play has been spearheaded by the goaltending duo of Sam Walsh and Daniel Nicholson, coupled with the play of rookie defenceman Jack Connell.  With some important pieces of the team coming back from injury recently, the Falcons are poised to make a playoff push.

The Maniacs are looking to build on their strong finish, winning four of their last five regular season games.  Montague won the season series 5-3 over Sherwood.  Maniacs captain and league leading scorer, Matt Higgins, will be looking to lead his team toward a playoff run in his last year of junior eligibility.  The return of defenseman, Brandon Gaudet, is also timely and welcomed news for the Maniacs.

Semi-Finals:
The winner of the Quarter-final will face the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers, who are five-time defending league champions.  After finishing first in the regular season, the Vipers look forward to the break to heal some injuries.  Despite leading the leage in goals for, they did not have any players in the top seven in league scoring but did have nine of the top 25, so depth will be key to their success.  Grant Grady had an MVP-type regular season and will be counted on in the playoffs.

In the other semi-final, the third-seeded Arsenault's Fish Mart Red Wings will meet the second-seeded Holland College Hurricanes.  Game one will go Thursday, March 5th at 8pm in Pownal.  The Red Wings will host the Don Johnson Memorial Cup, but will be looking to earn their way there.  They will carry a balanced attack into the series where both teams have been evenly matched so far.  The Red Wings will look to Logan Smallman and former Viper, Spencer Montgomery, for leadership.  They have recently replaced their coaching staff and will look forward to a few good practices before playoffs.

After finishing at the bottom of the standings in their first two seasons, the Holland College Hurricanes enter the playoffs as the second seed.  Forwards, Jonny Richards, Patrick Cummiskey, and Parker Diamond each had strong seasons offensively, while Curtis Hall and Cleve McNeil have been forces on the blue line.  Dan McCarthy and Jarrett Ross have shared the goaltending duties all season long.
