Marc Thibodeau scored the winner as the East Hants Penguins trimmed the Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers 2-1 to advance to the championship game on Sunday.

 

Tyson Alders opened the scoring early in the first and Thibodeau's goal came late in the opening period to put the Penguins up 2-0 after twenty minutes.  The score stayed that way until Brett Hogan scored with the Vipers net empty to pull the defending Don Johnson Cup champions to within one, but that would be as close as they would get.

 

In the other semi-final on Saturday, the Moncton Vitos shocked the host St. John's Caps with a 5-4 overtime win.  The Caps were undefeated after the round robin portion of the event and the Vitos had just one win before Josh LeBlanc's overtime marker completed the upset. 

 

The Vitos and Penguins will meet in the final at 1 o'clock on Sunday afternoon.  Live video of the game can be watched at BellAliant.net.
